Formosa (beautiful island) is what the Portuguese called Taiwan when they came here in the 16th century and saw the island's verdant beauty. Two-thirds of the total area is covered by forested mountains and the remaining area consists of hilly country, platforms and highlands, coastal plains and basins. And the Yushan Mountain Range is the highest mountain peak in Northeast Asia.
Taiwan contains lots of natural beauty. In order to protect this diverse natural surroundings, the government has established 6 national parks and 13 national scenic areas to preserve Taiwan's best natural ecological environment and cultural sites. And I very like Penghu. The Penghu archipelago consists of near one hundred islands. The Makung Island (including Makung City and Hushi) is the largest island in the archipelago, followed by Hsiyu, Baisha. Only 20 islands are inhabited. Once you have come to the Penghu Islands, the surrounding ocean waters will make you forget about going home again. The seas, the beaches, and the skies are clear. The living environment here attracts even the most particular forms of life, including the green sea turtle. In addition to its rich oceanic resources, Penghu offers fantastic sights of basalt column formations, the plain and simple lifestyle of the local people, well-preserved historic sites, and captivating scenery.

In addition to enjoying the beautiful natural scenery, of course you will also want to sample the special snacks for which the islands are famous. These include seafood, fried vermicelli with pumpkins, salty cakes, black sweet cakes, and cactus fruit and fruit juice.
